The BOVANS NERA is a brown egg layer, black feathered with some brown neck feathers, mainly used for specialty markets. Although her genetic potential to produce high egg numbers is not as good as the Bovans Brown or others, yet her unique characteristic to be less demanding for the nutrition she receives, makes her the bird of choice for many individual flock owners producing in a more traditional way.
